Prophet H

Property Management Documentation

You will need the following documents available to perform this test procedure:

  • ASCII code chart - or Appendix K of the Prophet-H manual.
  • PMS Formats - Print a copy of the format for your PMS and verify these values are programmed into the Rate table 1 of the Prophet-H.
  • Rate Table Programming Parameter - Locations 060 - 091 contained in Appendix H or J of the Prophet-H manual.

Property Management System Test

The diagram below demonstrates the use of a laptop PC to simulate a PMS and test the operation of the Prophet-H in PMS mode.

This test follows the Basic Output Test which ensures call records are being outputted from the Prophet-H System port.

ALL LOCATION REFERENCES APPLY TO RATE TABLE 1.

PMS Check

Important Points to Remember

  • The input buffer size (location 091) should be kept small so that if the PMS fails, calls will overflow to the backup printer within a few minutes of PMS failure. This can be tested by NOT acknowledging ENQ's during the test procedure.

  • Administrative calls can be directed to the PMS by setting location 087 to 0.01. If the PMS does not handle Admin calls, then set the Prophet-H output option to store. Turn on the nightly audit report to print and clear these calls at 23:59.
Admin calls that are not directed to the PMS and are not stored for the nightly audit report will "Print on the Fly" to the backup printer and be intermixed with unposted guest calls. Accept for the nightly audit report, it is generally preferred that the calls on the backup printer be rejected guest calls ONLY to be manually posted to the PMS.

  • Not all PMS's perform a full ENQ, ACK, NAK protocol. The call record may be sent directly without an attention character and call receipt may or may not be acknowledged. Characters used during the Prophet-H / PMS handshake may differ. Check your PMS format against the explainations in appendix H of the Prophet-H manual to determine actual operational parameters.

  • If the Prophet-H PMS operation matches the PMS (full handshake) format, and the PMS will not accept records, connect your laptop PC to the PMS and send a ENQ <CTRL-E> and see if you receive an ACK in return. Also check for baud rate and protocol (8,N,1 | 7,E,1 etc.) mismatch.
