Setting Your Modem To Quiet Mode
The following command sequence ensures that the modem attached to the Prophet System is set in the quiet mode (does not echo or respond to Prophet system output).
Connect a terminal or PC with terminal software directly to the modem to be programmed. Type the following commands and press <ENTER> after each line entry.

The 'OK' response ensures that you are properly connected and communicating with the modem.

If you get ERROR instead of OK then this modem cannot be used with the Prophet system. The command ATW0 (zero) ensures that the modem will save programming changes and restore them in the event of temporary power loss.

Sets hardware flow controls and ensures modem answers on the second ring.

|
The modem should now be in the quiet mode. It will not echo your keystrokes or respond 'OK' to your commands. The next series of steps ensure that this is the default mode.

Power off the modem, wait five seconds and power the modem back ON.

Modem reset and initialize
|
The modem should be in the quiet mode. We'll test this with the commands that follow.

There should be no echos or responses. Final step is to ensure that the modem is listening and we didn't accidentally disconnect a cable or something.

Modem responds and when we cycle the power again, it will reinitialize to the quiet mode.

Power off the modem before connecting it to the Prophet system then power it back ON.
